There are 2 main type of swordsmen in martial art world of ancient wuxia universe. One is as Tuan Changqing (Ti Lung); who is rich, respectable, noble and talanted swordman, and fights or duels only for honor and glory. The other is as Xiao Dao (Alexander Fu Sheng); who is undiscovered talent, poor, comes from commons, and so constantly despised and underestimated, but he fights magnificently as good as those respectable swordsmen, but only when necessary. Here is this story, moving on the basis of these two main types of swordsmen; Tuan Changqing, whose nickname is “Deadly breaking sword” because of broke his sword on his rivals, challenges another master martial artist Lian San (Michael Chan Wai-Man) for glory, as typical. But this time something goes wrong, and after Tuan Changqing sticks and break his sword on him, Lian San could escape from his death with a bad wound, and then he refuges house of Killer Doctors, Guo Tiansheng (Ku Feng). Indeed, Guo Tiansheng is really strange and eccentric doctor, who hosts bunch of fierce martial artists in his house and also have some dark past. But he right away accepts and start to curing Lian San, in some purpose (!). Meanwhile, in another place, while Tuan Changqing is enjoying his perfect life and other duels, on the other hand, poor but talented Xiao Dao tries to manage his life hoping to win in gambling. But eventually, he sinks in a very big gambling debt, and he is forced to work as a bodyguard in gampling house, as the casino owner’s daughter’s wish. But, of course, Xiao Dao is not satisfied with such a job, and so he would embark any adventure to close his dept as soon as possible. What a coincidence that Liu Yinxu (Shih Szu), who is new expensive prostitute just arrive to the Town, has an adventures for both Xiao Dao and also Tuan Changqing. Interestingly, Liu Yinxu shares some dark memories with Guo Tiansheng, and in order to close those old accounts, she try to convince and use these two talented swordsman, either with mellifluence for Tuan Changqing or money for Xiao Dao. At the end, our heros are convinced somehow, and then come to killer doctor’s house to close this case. But Lian San, who have been druged with some kind of special doping stuff by killer doctor, have been now mutated to more powerful warrior. And therefore, to get the doctor, they must defeat that monster first …. Very enjoyable Wuxia and martial arts adventure by Sun Chung. For my own part, while watching the film, I couldn’t be sure which one is “Deadly Breaking Sword” ; the physical one which Tuan Changqing uses actually, or another one which is symbolized in Xiao Dao ?
Antik Wuxia evrenindeki dövüş sanatların dünyasında 2 ana türde savaşçı vardır. Biri Tuan Changqing (Ti Lung) gibiler; Sadece şeref ve şan için dövüşen, zengin, saygın, soylu ve yetenekli silahşörler. Diğeri ise Xiao Dao (Alexander Fu Sheng) gibiler; sadece gerektiği zaman dövüşen ama dövüştümü en az o çok sayılan soylu silahşörler kadar yeteneklerini ortaya seren ama fakir olup alt tabakadan geldiği için, sürekli horlanan, küçümsenen ve aşağılan, “isimsiz” ve yetenekleri keşfedilmemiş silahşörler. İşte hikayemiz bu 2 ana türdeki silahşörü baz alarak ilerliyor. Kılıcını düşmanına saplayıp kırmasıyla “Ölümcül Kırık Kılıç” lakabını alan Tuan Changqing, her zaman ki gibi şan için, Lian San (Michael Chan Wai-Man) adında ki usta bir silahşöre meydan okur. Düellolarının sonunda, olağan ritüelinde ki gibi kılıcını ona saplayıp kırar ama tam ölümcül vuruşunu yapacakken, Lian San bir yolunu bulup ağır yaralı bir şekilde onun elinden kurtulur, ve Katil Doktor lakaplı Guo Tiansheng (Ku Feng)’in evinde soluğu alır. Guo Tiansheng, evinde tekinsiz dövüş sanatçıları barındıran, geçmişi oldukça karanlık gerçekten tuhaf bir doktordur. Ama doktorumuz Lian San “karşılıksız” tedavi etmeyi kabul eder. Bu arada, başka bir yer de Tuan Changqing, kaymak gibi olan hayatının tadını çıkarıp, keyfine düellolara girip çıkarken, diğer yandan, fakir ama yetenekli silahşörümüz Xiao Dao kumardan medet umarak çaresiz bir komiklikle kendi yolunu bulmaya çalışmaktadır. En sonunda kumarda büyük bir borca batan kahramanımız, kumarhane sahibinin kızının gönlü ile, borcunu kapatana kadar kumarhanede korumalık yapmaya mecbur olur. Yalnız Xiao Dao böyle bir külfetten hiç de memnun değildir, ve bir an önce borcunu kapatacak parayı bulabilmek için olur olmaz her türlü maceraya kendini atı verecektir. Bu maceralardan biriside kasabaya yeni gelen pahallı bir hayat kadını Liu Yinxu’nun (Shih Szu) bir takım tuhaf isteklerini yapmak olur. İlginç bir şekilde Liu Yinxu‘un geçmişi katil doktor Guo Tiansheng ile bağlantılıdır, ve eskiye dair hesapları kapatabilmek için, bir yandan Tuan Changqing‘i tatlı dille, diğer yandan Xiao Dao‘ı parayla ikna etmeye çalışır. Sonunda bir şekilde ikna olan silahşörlerimiz soluğu doktorumuzun evinde alır, davayı kapatmak isterler, ama doktorun tuhaf ilaçlarla dopinglediği Lian San oldukça tuhaf bir mutasyon geçirmiş, artık bambaşka ve çok daha güçlü biri olmuştur. Ve dolayısı ile ikilimiz önce bu dopingli canvarı geçmeleri gerekmektedir…. Sun Chung‘dan çok keyifli bir wuxia-dövüş sanatları filmi. Kendi adıma filmi seyrederken, esas “kırık kılıç” hangisi emin olamadım; Ti Lung’un kullandığı somut kılıç mı, yoksa sadece Alexander Fu Sheng’in karakterinde simgeleştirilmiş bir kavram mı?
